ACTOR STUDIO FOR UNHOLY/JET3D
updated 1-7-05
Jeff's updated Actor Studio app makes it a stand alone and directly
compatible with G3D/RF 3dsmax plugins. The texture size limitation has
been also removed.
You can basically follow ANY genesis3D/reality factory tutorial on
using actor studio.
The application Astudio.exe included with the current jDesigner3D
install is directly compatible with all of the 3dsmax export plug-ins.
Plus, the application has added
an old friend in virtually texture size limitations.
The only limitation you have is dimension need to be in in
one of the familiar pixel sizes:
32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048,etc.
Multiples of two. But you can mix and match now with texture sizes
such as:
1024x256 32x128 and the old limitation of square textures and size
of 256x256 is no more!
Q: Are other plug-ins, utilities going to work?
Basically ANY plug-in or
utility designed to create *.KEY and *.NFO files for Reality
Factory/Genesis3D can be used to convert to Jet3D. What you could do
is De-compile the (*.act) actor file and it would have to Generate
those two files types. Milkshape seems to export MOT
(motion) and BDY (body) files, not the needed KEY or NFO.
There are NO current tools that directly convert an dot ACTOR file from G3D
to Jet3D.
Maybe you could be the one to do this?? We will further experiment
with decompiling actors maybe using MILKSHAPE3D, but more complex bone
actors, like the gale player model 'DEMA" won't load correctly.
Genesis3D came to be with 3dsmax 2.0 plug-ins, back when it was in
beta. More recently it comes with plugs for Max 4.x-5.x.
Get a plug-in for your versions of 3dsmax:
MAX Plugs-ins:
(Requires Character Studio)
3dsmax 2.0
3dsmax 2.5
3dsmax 3.x
3dsmax 4.x
3dsmax 5.x
Note:
Read Paradoxnj's Tutorial on Jet3D.com to
export without the use of Max's 'Character Studio'.
The files that are list for download are not needed to use
larger textures than 256x256 pixels.
